SN500
SN500 is a highly versatile and widely used Group I base oil with higher viscosity and excellent stability. Its compatibility with additive systems and strong performance under heavy loads make it an ideal choice for producing industrial lubricants, greases, process oils, and heavy-duty engine oils.
SN500 Base Oil
What is SN500 Base Oil?
SN500 is a Group I paraffinic base oil produced through solvent refining and dewaxing of crude oil. It has a higher viscosity compared to lighter grades such as SN150 and SN300, making it suitable for applications that require stronger film strength and better load-carrying capability.
Due to its balanced performance and cost-effectiveness, SN500 is widely used in the formulation of industrial lubricants and heavy-duty engine oils.
Key Features of SN500
· High viscosity, suitable for medium to heavy-duty lubrication
· Good thermal and oxidation stability, ensuring long service life
· High flash point, improving safety and performance in demanding environments
· Excellent compatibility with additives, including anti-wear, anti-corrosion, and detergent packages
· Good solvency, helping to keep additives stable and effective in finished lubricants
Common Applications of SN500
1. Engine Oils (Gasoline & Diesel)
Used as base oil in the production of SAE monograde and multigrade engine oils with higher viscosity levels.
2. Industrial Lubricants
Such as:
· Heavy-duty gear oils
· Hydraulic oils
· Turbine oils
· Compressor oils
· Lubricants for construction and mining equipment
3. Grease Manufacturing
SN500 is commonly used in the formulation of lithium and calcium-based greases.
4. Rubber & Plastic Industry
Serves as a process oil in the manufacturing of rubber compounds and various plastic products.
5. High-load Machinery Lubrication
Due to its strong oil film, SN500 is ideal for bearings, gears, and industrial equipment subjected to high pressure and temperature.
